Inspriation: Beat the Seattle Chill in Style

To combat Seattle’s freezing cold weather we’re turning to Barbour’s National Trials Jacket and our very own line of 100% cashmere wraps. Stay fashionable and warm with this stunning (and practical) combo! Hitchcock Madrona cashmere wraps are super soft. They come in a variety of colors and prints.

Complete your stylish ensemble with a pair of Pantherella cashmere socks. Luxury never felt so cozy.

Outfit of the Day: Painter’s Pants and New Vests

Handmade wool and silk vests by Hitchcock Madrona.

Dustin and I were not looking to create a vest but we were so inspired by a men’s tuxedo waistcoat from the early 1900’s that I found at a costume shop. We deconstructed it to create the pattern for this fabulously androgynous vest. Menswear has been a consistent trend in women’s fashion for several decades (Hello, Diane Keaton in Annie Hall!). A sharply tailored menswear piece is so sexy on a woman. This vest excentuates your waist and is a great frame for jewelry.

Steel “Tic-tac-toe” ring by Surplus. Gold filled bangle cuffs by Hitchcock Madrona (never take these off!). Steel pipe ring layered with my faux diamonds by Surplus. We have received our holiday order of Hitchcock Madrona bangle cuffs. They are going to be great gifts this holiday season!

I acquired these pants in the most hilarious way – Reilly, a local artist, friend and client came into the store minding her own business when I accosted her regarding the perfect paint splatters on her pants. She told me that she had worn them out and was ready to move on to a new pair. Since I tried, and failed miserably, to create authentic painter’s pants (and I didn’t have the budget for the Double RL version) we did a trade! She got an awesome new necklace from one of her favorite artists, Surplus, and I got the pants! We still alight about it when we see each other – another woman’s trash is MY treasure!

18K gold and diamond shield necklace by Hitchcock Madrona (on oxidized sterling silver chain). I have plenty of these for holiday!

I love the small checks of the vest paired with the larger plaid of this Barbour scarf. At $65, these Barbour scarves are a great gift for everyone on your list – father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, dog. Anyone!

EVENT: TODAY Fall Launch Party 5:00-7:30pm

Just in time for the season’s change, so has Hitchcock Madrona.  Come see the boutique’s entirely new interior as we introduce our latest fall collections.

Barbour continues to keep our attention with their Barbour International line (think Steve McQueen on a motorcycle).  Several new styles have arrived this week!  Below I am wearing the National Trials Jacket and new grey pearl necklace by Shannon Koszyk.  Along with a huge selection of Shannon’s jewelry, we have new items from Winifred Grace and Karazi Design.  This is our first collection from Karazi Design and we love it’s edgy elegant vibe.

Do you like MY new jacket?!  I’m obsessed.

Grey pearl and medallion necklace (worn doubled) by Shannon Koszyk.

Our own private label is expanded upon with schoolboy blazers, vintage-fit wool cardigans, tuxedo waistcoats in cashmere/wool, and our ever popular cashmere scarves in new checks and plaids.

Come see all that’s new, enjoy a glass of champagne, and toast the new season at Hitchcock Madrona’s Fall Launch Party.

Fall 2012 Launch Party 11.15

Inspiration: Earth Tones and Mixed Metals

Before I left for vacation I persuaded Claire, barista at the Hi Spot Cafe, to get jeweled up and let me snap her photo. Her hair was down that day (it is normally piled on top of her head in a “Claire bun”) and she looked just like a model a la Ralph Lauren. She doesn’t have a stitch of make-up on – zero. She did have a glass of wine to loosen up before the photo shoot though. As you can see we had fun – I will make her my model again!

Cotton scarf by Hitchcock Madrona. Arrowhead ring by Pamela Love.

Gold thread and chain necklace by Venessa Arizaga.

Vintage chain and labradorite bracelet by Xenia Mara. Arrowhead ring by Pamela Love – also available in black. These rings are so hot!

Copper and leather cuff by Hitchcock Madrona (her right hand).

I am back from vacation and I have TONS of blogging material!

Temporary Closure: Sept. 24th – Oct. 2nd

It is that time of year again! Hitchcock Madrona is being transformed…

We will be closed through October 2nd for our annual concept installation. Although we are closed and I am on vacation (whoot! whoot!) I do have access to email. Please direct inquires during our metamorphosis to We will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, October 3rd.

hitchcock Madrona Store Hours:
Wednesday – Saturday 10 – 6

Sunday 10 – 5

Dustin is busy (to say the least) designing and installing our 2012-2013 store concept. After the new interiors are installed I will do a post on Dustin’s 10 day inspirational road trip collecting and concepting. But for now – top secret! We have enjoyed our “Madhatter Tea Party” interiors but are excited for a change. We will be having an event in late October to celebrate our transformation and usher us into the holiday season (already!). Please email me if you would like an invite or are currently not on the mailing list.

Not only are the interiors changing but we are also releasing all of our fall product. We are excited to introduce an outerwear collection from Barbour International, as well as new wool and leather bags. We will be gearing up for Seattle’s inevitable weather change with our private label cashmere scarves and ready-to-wear pieces. Lots of exciting things happening!

I leave you with a few photos of what the store used to look like. Come visit next week for a BIG change!

NYC here we come!

Sterling silver chain and solid 18k gold heart necklace by Hitchcock Madrona. I have not taken this necklace off since it was made from my design. It is a prototype but with all the positive reactions I have gotten it is in production! I am totally loving the whimsy of the tilt in the heart – sometimes it is up but most of the time it is to the side. I am not sure where I got this idea; usually I don’t care for hearts (on jewelry).

It is time again for New York City! We are off tomorrow morning (up at 5:00 am!) for spring/summer 2013 showroom visits. I have booked seven meetings in three days with all of our NYC jewelry designers. We can’t wait to view new collections from: Pamela Love, Venessa Arizaga, Michael Spirito, Lulu Frost, and IOSSELLIANI. We are also meeting with our Italian scarf manufacturer to pick out spring color-ways (our fall cashmere is already delivered and waiting to be put out!).  Some new artists (and categories!) are also on our radar but you will have to wait! We will be there until Thursday evening and back in-store on Friday morning. Kate is in the shop Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Kate will be a little late on Thursday due to school but will be in at 1:00. I am on email if you have any questions regarding custom or pending projects.
