So excited to blog about this jacket! My good friend Summer is an expert seamstress. I recently asked her to recreate the Comme Des Garcons blanket coat from Fall 2009. I have been obsessed with the blanket coat for many years and have never seen one in real life. They sold out immediately and frankly, were out of my price range even at a discount on ebay. When I met Summer I knew that was the first thing I wanted. I used an old (about 5 years old) Banana Republic utility coat and a wool blanket from the Tibetan market in India. I know that this was a challenging project but Summer executed it perfectly. I love love love it!
Here is the Comme version on the runway –
AND mine –
I am also wearing my Hitchcock Madrona sterling and brown leather cuff. This is an original design that everyone must own! We are working on a post all about this classic piece and how we developed it (it wasn’t easy!). I layered my 18k gold skulls and cross bones necklace (he has diamond eyes!) with my lapis, bronze and sterling spike necklace by Pamela Love. As you can see, I am trying to grow my hair out – not cute!
The Toyota Tacoma behind me is the official Hitchcock Madrona-mobile. So glamorous. It is amazing that a jewelry store needs a pick up truck but, we do!
I am getting very excited for the Surplus trunk show on Thursday evening. Come toast one of our favorite artists!
While I am on vacation in Santa Barbara (yeah!) with my family I wanted to post these fun photos that Dustin and I took with Harris a few weeks ago. This photo shoot was totally impromptu and lots of fun – how could it not be?! It all started with one photo of Harris in his new MOSCOT Tummel glasses. Aren’t they perfect?
Glasses by MOSCOT, wool blazer by Hitchcock Madrona, and necklaces by Shannon Koszyk. We have Shannon Koszyk’s spring collection in store now. The new collection infuses her coins, medals and antique heraldry with white and brass beads. They are light and easy to wear.
Harris is also featuring the Seventy Eight Percent Ipad Sleeve and silk pocket square by Hitchcock Madrona. Both items are perfect gifts for men.
Barbour Falcon Coat in Black
IOSSELLIANI Rhinestone collar. How amazing is this piece?! Possibly my favorite item in the store right now. I can’t wait to see who takes this baby home.
Solid cashmere scarf by Hitchcock Madrona.
When we started this photo shoot we asked “what will work for Harris in the store?”. When we ended the shoot we realized “what DOESN”T work for Harris!?”. Everything looked great!
I will be back in the store on Wednesday, February 27th. Until then, Morrow and Dustin will be open and ready to help!
Pamela Love’s spring collection has arrived! Love’s amazing jewelry is regularly featured in magazines like Vogue and Elle. Her unique and playful designs imply rock-and-roll and Southwestern influences and have been perfectly executed and imbued with just the right amount of edge. Currently in stock are necklaces ideal for layering, statement rings and dramatic cuffs. Her work is amazing – stop by and check it out!
Black Onyx, Green Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Crystal Quartz
Black Onyx and Ruby Cocktail Ring by Hitchcock Madrona
I was wearing mine in New York City this week. The beautiful sales associate at Cartier (we just wanted some inspiration!) fell in love. What a compliment! She gave me her card and asked when and if she could purchase one. Of course, I can oblige.
These cocktail rings are based on a 1920’s design that we found in a vintage store about 5 years ago. I think they are so interesting/sinister/estate/complex/beautiful. Who could ask for more?! Treat yourself for your birthday (one is always coming, right?) and add this baby to your collection. It is a timeless piece that we are very proud to feature.
New shipment in from Italian jewelry line IOSSELIANI! The talented duo behind this line have designed some seriously fun and dramatic pieces, but many are still very easy to integrate into your wardrobe. The perfect pieces to dress up jeans and a tee shirt – take a look:
I am completely enamored with this collar necklace below. I don’t think I have ever seen any jewelry piece in a store that is this fabulous. It is spectacular!
IOSSELIANI’s main line and Puro IOSSELIANI both feature vintage silhouettes in exciting and daring ways. Jewelry should be engaging and interesting!
We are back from NYC (barely) and gearing up for Valentine’s Day! Spring merchandise keeps rolling in. Today Dustin put out Michael Spirito and Pamela Love is being unpacked. Posts on those lines to come!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! One of our favorite holidays around here – women send me your men!
Pink, black, red and gold. Love this combo! I need to work it in an outfit – I love a fashion challenge!
Hitchcock Madrona customers are likely familiar with Iosselliani’s dramatic and fun fashion jewelry pieces. The company is expanding with their new line Puro, which takes Iosselliani in a different direction. Puro is a line of fine jewelry that is made in the Italian jewelry tradition. It features delicate sterling silver and gold-plated pieces adorned with semi-precious and precious stones, including garnets and sapphires. Puro necklaces can be easily layered and Puro rings are intended to be stacked. However, even though these pieces are more subtle than those from Iosselliani’s main line they never-the-less have a definite flair to them that reflects the creative vision of Iosselliani’s founders and designers, Paolo Giacomelli and Roberta Paolucci. Easy to integrate into any jewelry collection, Puro offers a fresh and innovative take on the fine jewelry genre. We are sure that you too will be enamored with Puro jewelry.
We have many more styles by Puro currently available. We also received a large shipment from Iosselliani – blog post on that coming soon!
Lately my outfit is not complete without an over-the-top blingy cocktail ring. This category has long been a favorite of mine but now I am wearing them primarily in the day with the most casual of outfits. It has been a fun way to luxe up a pair of ripped jeans or big boyfriend sweater.
Today I am also sporting a pair of Hitchcock Madrona pave diamond hoops. They are so versatile! They could be easily worn daily as a basic (give those diamond studs a break). I don’t know about you, but if I don’t wear my jewelry during the day it won’t be seen! Therefore, I challenged myself to work it into my everyday/boy-meets-girl wardrobe. I think I almost prefer uber dressy items, such as cocktail rings and red lipstick, worn with irreverence. It is so modern!
These rings are two original designs that we have been working on for about a year. The flat flower shaped ring is a one-of-a-kind all diamond stunner! The center stone is a rose cut diamond set upside down (I love doing that!). The outside stones are all fancy cut champagne diamonds. Champagne (slightly warm) diamonds look so dynamic with the oxidized silver setting. The ring on my left hand features a pale green amethyst surrounded by blue and pink sapphires, diamonds and rubies. Hello! Hitchcock Madrona regulars will recognize this design – we did a variation of it about four years ago. The new batch are a bit different but pack the same punch!
As you can see from my henna, we are back from India and busy sorting and finishing our jewelry purchases. We have a little more work to do on almost everything but soon the store will be exploding with gemstones (chunky and tiny – nothing in between!). I can’t wait to share!
